2.7L and it was easy. Jack up front and remove the front wheel, move the plastic covering out of the way, undo the 2 banjo bolts and then the 2 mounting bolts. Replace the washers supplied with the new one and reassemble.
I don't have small hands and I had plenty of room. I don't know why some people said it's a pain in the ass.
It took me less than an hour. The gas that came out of it looked like tea.

135k on the truck so I figured why not.

It was easier than replacing the spark plugs. Less shit to move out of the way.

Recently replaced mine on a 2000 1/2. Gas was definetly brown colored. Probably was the original fuel filter.

Another method is remove the starter, allows easy access to the 2.7 fuel flter.

You guys with the 2.7 know if it's the same as far as removal of the fuel filter for the 2.4? Didn't check out the access from the front left wheel well but it looks like a royal PITA if you have to take it out from the engine bay.

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
you should change your filter once a year! you don't want that crap going through your fuel injectors. gas is dirty.......hey look at all the problems with BP gas from the Whiting refinery last few weeks..... also there is a small change but it can happen, if you go for years without changing they filter water, and the filter can over time just fill up with water and it can freeze if it gets real cold.
