2003 Reg cab 4x4 71k miles. Just got the news that Toyota is going to replace the frame.
So, my choices. 1) Let Toyota do the minimum and sell it immediately. 2) Have Toyota fix the other things that will need replacing soon (some would be done without labor charge). Keep for several more years.
Really struggling with this. I have kind of lost faith in the vehicle. I have read here where people say that once the frame package is in place "it is a new truck." Resell value will never be higher than after the replacement.
If I decide to keep it, what are folks recommending for replacements? Shocks, struts... I am pretty much a stock kinda of guy. No off road adrenaline for me.
    Thanx for reading.

Are you financially in a position to get part ways with it?

    Not sure what your asking.
I have been looking at Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4, and Mazda CX-5 as replacements. Trade in is 7.5-8K, sell my self probably 10k-ish.
Certainly will cost more to buy a new vehicle than keep the Taco (if it doesn't start up with big repair bills).
If you were asking about my personal finances, it isn't going to keep me from eating:D. But never like to spend money I don't need to. Originally purchased the Taco thinking 150k miles then sell.

You say you have lost faith in the truck, you ask if you should sell. If it were me and I could comfortably handle the payment then I would do it. Why keep something you don't like if you can avoid it?

If you're thinking of selling it anyway - didn't they offer you a buyback?

No buy back. It is my understanding that the 01-04's get new frames only, no buy back. In fact Toyota offered me the least amount on trade in. Not real happy with Toyota right now.
