So I'm not too sure what the problem could be. So when I put the truck into Reverse or Drive it thumps. Also, when I'm coming to a break it makes a weird thump. But if I slow down slowly it doesn't make it as bad. Truck drives fine, but it does have a bit of vibration at different speeds. Any ideas of what this could be?

    Have you changed anything recently?

Have you greased all of your driveshaft zerks?

Sounds like typical first gen axle wrap. Give me sec to find some threads I've read on it.

It was the leafs. I did the $30 mod. Certainly helps with the thump. Gears go in a lot smoother. Car still jumps a bit but doesn't have the loud thump. On breaking it doesn't thump I can hear the leads creaking a bit where they are trying to move. But no more loud thump. For $30 it's a nice fix for now. Thanks for your help

So if I change the leaf springs with oem replacements. That should fix the problem,

I know everyone here suggests axle wrap and that is generally the right answer.

BUT, I have a very similar thump to yours, backing out of the driveway, and under hard braking. Doesn't happen in moderate to slow braking. Thing is, I have brand new leafs back in January with my frame replacement...so personally I can rule out the axle wrap?

    Just putting this out there.

Today I had a friend rock the truck back and forth while I looked underneath. I'm sure it's the leads. Cause I see them moving which cause a lot of movement and I can see the shaft trying to turn and that's where I hear the thump coming from.

Sorry to keep bringing this up. I've done more research and I was wondering if traction bars would solve this issue? I saw on some other trucks some guys did this and help the issue. Or would I be better off doing an aftermarket leaf spring raise? Also, what if I took the truck off the cheap block lift, would that get rid of the issue?

    Thanks again
