Hi guys, I have an 02 Tacoma ext cab 4wd v6. The truck is bone stock except for a warn transformer brush guard on the front with a winch, and an ARE shell on the back. Stock suspension is shot! what I'd like to do is put a little lift on it. 1.5" or 2" above stock front and rear. Most importantly i want it level. (the truck is nosediving quite a bit right now) now, what i need to know is what do i need front and rear. I'd love to do a OME set up but man is that expensive!!! any options recommended would be greatly appreciated!! thanks in advance.

The leafs are about flat all the way across so im assuming they are in need of replacement. I feel the front coils and shocks are in even worse shape though. the front suspension is pretty spongy and the front is definitely lower than the back. i was just wondering if there was any other options for putting together some coil overs that would get me where i want to be without putting out the 1,200 or so for the full OME package.

Check Scott fro Truck Add ons. You can't beat his price and free shipping. I went OME up front and an ICON AAL in the rear but my 4 leaf pack is new otherwise I would have gone dakar in the rear. Full OME set up from Scott was about $1000.

I appreciate the responses! I was just hoping someone out there could tell me if there was a certain spec spring and shock setup i could buy from someone like Moog or Bilstein that would get me where i want to be with the front.

Look for some junkyard rear leafs that will fit but may need a refurbish. The you may just need some coils and shocks. I think 5100's all around and eibachs come out less expensive then the ome.

Man thanks so much! That's exactly what i was looking for. Just trying to find an alternative to the OME. Still have to do some research as to what exact springs i will need to handle the extra weight of the brush guard and winch on the front. I think it will definitely come out cheaper though.

I don't know much about the Eibach's for first Gen but for 2nd Gen they have a pretty high spring rate...higher then the ome so they may be very good for the extra weight.

I'm sorry if I'm goin cheapo. But would it really suck if I just bought some cheap eom replacements and 5100's just to get by for a while until I could get proper springs?

you could buy some billies, use current springs until saved money for proper springs.
no sense in buying replacements to replace.

I'm pretty sure mine are totally gone though. 156000 miles with 200 pounds hanging off the front. I'll post a pic when I can. It's sagging bad! Any cheap remedies for the rear end? Lol

Probably not too long honestly. The reason im so stirred up about it is sat I took the truck on about a 600 mile trip and was not pleased at all about the way it handled on rough bits of road. Super soft spongy feel... Yuck! I even think the suspension bottomed out a few times.

Btw man, that's a sick grill you got there. Where'd you get it?

I would just try to buy it all at once, even if it means waiting a little longer. not that its a lot of work to do springs/shocks. I just wouldnt want to have to redo it after a week or so to replace some springs.

    I did the grill myself.

Yeah you're probably right. It would definitely be a pain to do it twice. So you think the eibachs are what I want? I don't quite want 3 inches but the front accessories I figure may bring it down to say about 2 inches? I'm new to this stuff! And on the junk yard springs? Get them re-arched and add a
Leaf? Decent shocks for the rear as well?

seems alot of people recommend old man over eibachs, not sure why.
after everything settles, it may come down to 2". but i doubt it.

i would replace the leaf packs tbh if they are flat, it is going to add up. but it will be worth it. i would replace the rear shocks as well, just because i like to do it all at once. something you probably will have to do in the future.

What OMEs would you recommend I look for? 885s? I think 2 inches when it's all said in done is just what I want.
