my little brother was spray painting something black in the garage today right beside my beautiful innocent silver tacoma and the idiot accidentally painted part of my truck lightly. in a rush to get it off before complete drying i rubbed turtle wax into it pretty well and it came off completely

i thought i was going to kill the lil bastard

I will take my first generation any day over one of the newer ones. All I hear about on the 05's and newer is problems. I am gonna drive my 04 till the wheels fall off of it...............................Not sure if that will ever happen though :D

In my opinion, the generation 1 Tacoma's win hands down :).
    I'm not in a hurry to purchase a generation 2 / 3 Tacoma :p
    .
My only complaint with my 01 is the rusty frame & my rusty chrome bumper.

How did this thread turn into this?

I wanted an 05- but I couldnt find one that had a solid frame. Hasn't toyota learned their lesson? This has been a problem since the 1980s. I live in the salt belt and even questioned getting a toyota to begin with.

Actually, the guy at the dealership i talked to today said there was about 8000 of them sitting in some yard in, i think he said Ohio. Supposedly Toyota was still trying to figure out what they are going to do with them.

BTW, i was at the dealership to make them order new clips for my 09' TRD OFF ROAD mudflaps, which i noticed i lost 3 of (loose and/or lost) in the approximately 2 months i have had the truck, simply from backing into snow covered driveways. I stressed to them that this is a design flaw and was not acceptible in a new 4x4 OFF ROAD vehicle, mid way through its 1st winter. This never happened to my other Toyota trucks in a combined 22 years in the same climate and driven the same.

see a little snow wouldnt have torn off my flaps...bigger tires...maybe...but not snow...

and i really doubt there is 8000 unsold 1st gen tacomas sitting in a field or whatnot...maybe 8000 that are about to get crushed because Dana screwed up on treating the frame right...

Didn't tear the flaps off, just 1 plug (lowest on each) from each flap, which would be the logical 1st step before the next lowest clip / plug breaking, and then 3rd lowest would have their heads pulled off. The point was this never was an issue with my 87' or 2000' in much more challenging winter conditions over many more combined years.

Not sure what 'unsold' has to do with anything. He said there were 8000 buybacks that were not yet crushed because they were unsure that was what they were going to do with them. They were still considering their options.

If i was unclear on either point earlier, i suspect this should clear it up.

ooooh ok i thought you meant they were still technically "new"

i was under the assumption that all buybacks were being crushed...but maybe toyota is gonna strip parts to use for resale
