1st gen Tacoma Radiator size. Distance between tanks?

    Hello all,

    I've got a 96 taco auto 4x4 sr5 xtra cab. I've got a small crack on the top of my plastic radiator that beads with coolant when hot. I plan on replacing the rad myself. I am a bit of a noob when it comes to repairs, but I feel pretty confident, and plan to follow the steps in the radiator replacement thread.

    Anyways I work at a parts place, and am getting a koyorad rad. The salesman said he would hook me up, but there's 2 listings for the 96 4x4 3.4L

    22 5/8" between tanks (koyorad part #
    $94 CU1755 Complete Radiator
    CU1755)

    20 3/4" between tanks (koyorad part #CU1774.)

    Anyone know which one I should choose? Or how I can find out which one I need?

    I have an identical truck to yours but a 98 and I have the 22 5/8 radiator so I would bet you do as well. I was going to replace my radiator with a koyorad C1755 but I cannot find anywhere online that isn't on back order.

    Supercharged on One Tons
    It doesn't matter which one you chose. One will be smaller but they are the same bolt up pattern.

    The smaller one is better for off roading

    Thanks.

    Now I have no idea what I'm talking about, but does the larger one cool more efficiently?

    Why would the smaller one be better for offroading?
