Hmmm, are you actually talking about the tail light assembly? Little confused (as usual most would say lol) on where you are at.

The third brake light should be on the upper section on the rear of your cab roof.

You mention the damage just being on your tail light though so that puts me more in mind that the issue is actually the tail light assembly not the third brake light. If so, hope helps you.

Here is the FSM page on it.
Hope that helps! As you can see, should be 4 screws and the whole thing should come out. Sorry you had someone hit your truck.

That is a biotch to remove...need to pull the headliner down and unscrew the two nut and it should come apart. I remember it was a big pain to route my Sirius antenna there.

Start here: Should be able to get to it by removing the rear don't necessarily need to completely remove the headliner.

I also had to take out my 3rd brake light to route some cable. I tried just taking out the back half and it was a pain in the butt. In retrospect it would have been easier just to take the whole liner out. That's just my opinion though.

Good choice in the tails. I didn't buy with the third because I read about how big of a pain it was to replace. All I did was stick round led bulbs in there and leave it.

You have to pull the headliner down as stated above, which requires removal of the interior panels.

That sounds good. I'm a buy the two side lights and just bulbs for the 3rd.

So if you put the LEDs in the 3rd brake light you don't have to remove the headliner and crap? Just un-screw it from outside I'm assuming?

No if you do led's you have to remove everything because it's a different housing but just replacing the bulbs you can just unscrew it.
