I bought my 2001 double cab about 3 months ago already lifted. Well the guy who lifted it didn't put in better shocks and drove the hell out of it... now I need to replace them and need some advice. I've heard a lot of good things about Bilstein 5100 and 5150. I just want to make sure they will work and my pickup will ride smoother..?

What lift kit are you running? Depends what it is. The 5100 front will work set at 0" and rear 5125's will work since they are meant for lifted applications.

Bilsteins are great for Tacomas, everyone of my buddies w/ Tacos have Bilsteins underneath them and swear by 'em. I made the mistake of buying Ranchos and regretted it ever since, rides way too stiff even w/ the shocks adjusted all the way to the softest setting. Now I'm saving up for Bilsteins! Good luck.

I have no clue what lift it is. All I know is I'm no impressed by it. I had a 2000 extended cab with a 3" fabtech lift and it was a smooth ride. But this new one has been a pain. Thank you! I normally have a brother that helps with this type of thing, but hes all into power strokes now.

Yeah take a pic of the front and rear setup and we can help you better. I ran both the Bilstein and OME shocks and based on my experience I prefer the OME myself but Bilstein are a great choice too and lots of people run them and love them.

I don't currently have any pics of it. I'll get one soon.

Pics will help us determine what you have on there. Most likely to get the ride better, you will need to replace the lift you have on there with some bilstein 5100s and a different aal set out back.

    Welcome to TW, OP!

Not entirely true. Based on DSM's recommendations, you may encounter problems using 5100s without any rear lift. (Details are posted here and here but, the bottom line is that they've found 5100s to be "too long for no lift".) Instead, they recommend 5125s for "stock" height applications.

5125's come in different lengths so they will work for lifted applications.
