I have decider to re-gear and lock my truck. I will be going with 4.88's. Now do I need to lock the front probably not but since it will be open mught as well. If I do lock the front it will be an ARB. Now for the rear do I want to go ARB or Detroit? The truck is only driven maynbe 5-6 days out of the month sometimes less. My truck is a 2002 double cab 4x4 auto trans. I will have a poll up for those who want to votes. I am open to comments or suggestions. Thanks.

Added just a little bit of bait. Lets see what I can get.

Does the type of wheeling you do require a front locker?

If so, I would say do it now since you are already doing the regear. I did a regear on my old jeep wrangler a number of years ago and then ended up getting ARB's installed just 2 years later. I could have saved a lot of labor cost if I did it all the first time!

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I would almost rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. No as far as the rear goes not sure what I want to do.

Yea I will do it all at once. Just seeing if I should even really lock the front or not. If I lock the front no doubt it will be an ARB. Now as far as the rear goes since I don't drive it on the road almost at all I figured I could get away with something like a Detroit. That doesn't mean that I am not wanting to go with an ARB.

Well I am on my second front diff. I hope my rear holds up! If if was up to me I would have done it all back then but it was in the insurances hands.

IMO there is nothing wrong with putting a lunchbox in the front diff. You wont notice it on the street and offroad Its really not that bad. I only noticed it for 15minutes the first time i wheeled with it then i got used to it. I never have to battle my steering wheel other then when i get tires jammed between rocks. The rear i would do an ARB because daily driving a autolocker isnt that much fun. At least the Jeep i drove with one for a couple weeks when i broked my truck wasnt.

I have auto hubs though so that means with a lunch box locker in the front it will always be locked. If I have manual hubs I would do it. As far as the rear I have driven a truck with a Detroit in it. The popping didn't really bother me. I liked the looks I would get from people who thought I had messed something up on the truck.

Your passenger hub unlocks because it is ADD. You wont notice it i have auto hubs to. IF your in 4WD it wont really pop because your not going fast enough.

I'm leaning towards that. I got a quote on it and damn!! I know I wont be disappointed if I do. Just want to look at other options as well and see what others think.

The compressor I am looking at will run two air lockers as well as air up my tires with no issues.
