Hey guys I've been trying to check everything to get my truck to run better it only keeps getting worse. But will a 97 Tacoma run without the maf plugged in? My doesn't at all just misses and sputters. I've read it turns on the fuel pump? But I've also heard people saying it should just default back to the standard map and run ok.

probably not. the fuel mixture will be all off, possibly causing damage.

If its an automatic it will f**k up and shift weird, maf sensor needs to be in. air to fuel ratio will be messed up as well. Why do you want to take it out?

I got it to run but only wthefts foot on the gas but you can't rev it at all so I guess the maf is fine after all or maybe just reading wrong since I can't get an ohm reading off of the two wires it says

Damn auto correct. It's a standard but I've just been having crazy power problems and trying to narrow things down

Did you try cleaning it first? If you need to replace it, it's about $100. Less if you get it from a junk yard.

A friend pranked me by unplugging my 4runner's MAF a while back. I go to drive it and she dies idling multiple times in a row. Figured that one out pretty fast.

You should prank him back by kicking him in the balls.

Hahahaha that works. But honestly I've cleaned the maf multiple times and this time I decided to really get all the contacts by using some isopropyl and soaking it a hair. Didn't make any difference but maybe the ECM with adjust once I head for a drive tO school tmrw.

Got him back by unplugging a plug wire on his runner. Idle'd exactly the same. It must've been a spectacular feat of gutlessness.
