Hey im new to TW and im in need of some sliders. I dont really have $300 to buy a set of sliders, id rather make em myself anyways. Im been looking around and have some ideas, but i was wondering if any of y'all had built your own and have any designs youd like to share!
    Thanks

    Like this guy already.

Fabbed up my own front tube bumper pretty much. Thought of the design, made an idiot of myself in someone's build thread, went out to a metal/fab shop, told them what I was looking for and built a front bumper.

Custom is fun, it's all yours.

That $185 is pretty sweet deal though, even my cheap/broke ass could fork down $185 right now for a set. Maybe you could to??

I definetly want to go with the hybrid style with 2x2 boxed steel then some tubing. And Should i go with DOM or HREW tubing? THis is a stupid question but how exaclty do i bring this up to the top? I could definetly do $185, but for DOM there like $235.:p

    Relentless, where are you located?

Relentless is in Sparks, NV according to their online store.

How hard do you intend to beat on your sliders? HREW would be fine for most use but if you're really going to beat the hell out of them, go DOM for the added strength (or just use all square tube like Demello's rock crusher sliders).

I made mine out of 1.75" 0.120" wall square tube with 1/4" frame scab plates and gussets.

Well I plan on usin them to say the least... Haha steve o I really like that design, I think I may go that way. Also I was looking around and saw a pair of tg sliders for only $210.. My cost will be around $180 just for materials. Any word on tg sliders?

There are pros and cons of building your own versus buying a pre-made set. By the time you buy the materials and weld your own sliders up, you pretty much have more money tied up in them than if you buy a pre-made set. Like others have said, they will be your own design, and you will get the satisifaction of building them yourself. If you buy pre-made sliders, you can weld/bolt them on, or have them installed and be ready to go in just a few days.

I decided to fab my own sliders. I bought the metal several months ago. It is still sitting in the corner in the garage. I started to work on them, but other priorities popped up and took precedence. On the plus side, the higher priority projects required a lot of welding, so my welding skills are up to par once again. That is good for building my sliders, as they will be much more visible than the flatbed trailer I am building.
