I'm thinking of seafoaming my taco and thought it would be good to drive it after putting it in the vacuum line - I had read that its good to run the truck for a about 30 minutes to burn all the stuff off. I wanted to know if the smoke would be any problem in terms of warranting a cop/CHP to pull me over?

let the majority of the smoke run out of your exhaust at home and go for a 5-10min drive at night.

I don't think there is anything illegal about cleaning your engine with an off-the-shelf product. Bring the can with you. If a cop tries to harass you over the smoke, show them the can and explain that you're actually doing this to ensure that your engine runs clean and efficiently.

ya I'd prefer not to do it at home and blow smoke throughout the neighborhood.

cleaning the engine; no. I was just wondering if the amount of smoke could be considered a visual obstruction/ safety issue. Cops can be assholes....

I Sea Foamed a couple months ago. I too was wondering about this. What I did was go to a remote area (as far away from houses as one can get in Orange County) and did this at night on a Sunday night. It was a TON of smoke and was getting little worried about someone calling in a fire or something. Worked out fine.

But I would never consider doing this in my garage/neighborhood. Def. do it at night too if you live in a populated area.

The smoke it not that bad, and it will be burned off in 5-10 mins. If you don't want to do it at home and you don't want to drive around and do it, your best alternative option is to do it in an afterhours parking lot at night. While I'd personally just do it home, you really don't have many other options.

Just don't point that exhaust at anything you do not want covered in black soot/grime/carbon.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
I got pulled over. I hit the gas a bit too hard and the cloud was "impenetrable." When I explained it to him, he begrudgingly let me go but I was careful not to hit the gas too hard until most of it burned off...

Do it a home and kill all the mosquitos in the neighborhood:D. I would do it early on as Sat or Sun as to not choke the neighbors. Don't do it in an enclosed garage especially if it is an attached garage.

I did the seafoam thing and had hardly any smoke at all.
I see a lot of cars on the highway that smoke more than what mine did when I seafoamed, so I doubt that you will get in trouble. But then, I don't live in CA either.

Seafoamed my taco today - used the vacuum line that runs to the throttle body. I did it at the old navel base here in the town where I live. I put about half a bottle in with the engine and operating temp - as the seafoam website suggests. I then turned on the engine for about 6 minutes. Upon starting it I got some smoke but it went away after a minute, nothing like I'd read about or seen via youtube.

my taco is 2.7 with 142k

after driving it for a bit I changed the oil - used the remaining seafoam in there and in the gas tank. The truck does seem to run better. Its not a night and day thing but there is some improvement - and I noticed after the initial vacuum line cleansing, in addition to after the oil change.

they had seafoam on sale for like $6.99 for a bottle, I'd say for that price - or for what it is new, plus the few minutes it takes to apply it, its worth it.
