bigger tires on 2.7 liter first generation taco

    does anybody know how well my 2003 taco with the 2.7 liter will perform if i put on 33 inch tires? how much power will i lose? and how will it affect my automatic transmission?

    I believe you've got a 4.56 gearing? If so, you *should* be ok. But you will definitely notice the power loss and mpg will take a hit. Personally, I wouldn't do it, especially on a prerunner.

    Also, you would need to lift and possibly do some trimming, hammering to make the 33's fit.

    Alot of dudes on here went with close to 33's. After reading about alot of builds I went with 3in Old Man EMU and 285/75-16 (pretty close to 33's). Everything I've seen on the build threads says slight loss of power and MPG, but regeared they are fine. I will have mine on next week:D

    I have 33's but my stock gearing was 4.56. You can confirm by looking at the numbers in your door panel and using the code. Can't think where the code chart is but if you look for it you can find it

    Slight power reduction. Have been running 33s for almost 6 years
