Is someone know if it's possible to put a V8 in a tacoma 2001-2004? For example the tundra engine ?

    Thanks

Maybe a small block V8 can fit in the engine bay.

yes it has been done. Tundra engine will be a pain because of ECU, transmission, overall length, etc...

If you really want a V8 go with the LS1

Speed Freek has a 1st gen that he completed the swap on himself .. total sleeper

lmfao.. Well, I don't know a lot of people who don't know what an LS1 is, but I'll give anyone the benefit of the doubt.

    Less work, same power.

Yes, of course you can put a V-8 in your Tacoma. It's just a matter of how hardcore you are, and your knowledge of how to do engine swaps and conversions. I would try to find a 4.0 lexus V-8 engine, since it's about the same size as the V-6 in the Tacoma, or used to be... You'll need to find engine mounts that fit exactly, otherwise the entire project will fail, regardless of what engine you choose. Don't forget to find a strong enough tranny to handle all the power. And crossbeams so you don't bend the entire truck out of shape. And probably some heavy duty suspension to help absorb the power, too. It's actually a ass load of work, and an ass load of money. But, if done correctly, will be fantastic. You might also just want to get a V-8 Tundra to drive in the first place.

In overly general terms, I think it's too much work. It would be awesome, don't get me wrong. But, given the newness of the Tacoma, there's just not enough parts to support the project. Unless you're some kind of bad ass, super fabricator, you will more than likely ruin your truck. Read some old 4x4, Off-Roader, and Hot-Rod mags, lots of engine conversion articles to give you inspiration, or discouragement... Good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Because you're all such a fountain of information, right? Way to help answer this guys question. The most important issue you will have, is proper engine mount and bracket set up. Try venturing into the world of Hot Rodding and car modding in general. Lots and lots of engine conversions, kits, & what not. Maybe something will work for you, there. This thread will not.

Dude, really? Positive? Threatening me on the internet, is something from middle school, jack ass. I was trying to help the original poster. All these guys did was talk smack to me, and offered zero help as far as this post is concerned. If you kick me out, I really could care less, since no one has any knowledge to pass down. I never claimed to be a mechanic, the guy posed a question, and I answered it. Everyone else decided to attack my input. Way to go retards!:D The end is nigh...

I say just SC your truck instead.

    but if you really want.

    Do a 1uz Swap(4.0l Lexus V8)

Or a 4.6L Tundra engine. Screw the old 4.7. The new 4.6 make way more power is is more efficient.

anything can be done with the right mind set, tools, and of course very deep pockets..
