took a bump today and it sounded horrible, almost like I didn't even go over a smooth bump. I noticed some grease on my passenger lower ball joint. figured maybe its toasted. i am gonna go try wiggle it to get more confirmation, but if i do replace it, should i do both lowers? at ~50$ ea I don't necessary want to do both if not needed.

I would replace both. It will save you time later.

no sign of wiggle when I jacked it up. any recommended tests?
It could have just been the way I took said bump. Just because a little grease came out doesn't mean its bad right? Off to find some more bumps.

pull the lower ball joint out from the control arm. To check it I think you should grab the stud coming out of the ball joint and wiggle it around. If you feel any slop it's done

make sure when you jack it up the suspension is still compressed...meaning jack it up from the lower control arm rather than the frame.. the suspension being at full droop causes tension on the ball joints that will make them not show signs of wear as much
