01-04 gauges into 96?

Will an 01-04 insrument cluster fit into a 96 if its the same engine, tranny, etc? I wanna swap one into mine since I like them better.

 

Based on my experience trying to do the same thing I found out that it could not been done easily because the 01-04 gauges have a digital odometer and the earlier gauges did not.

Maybe some gauge covers would help spruce up the look? I bought some nice ones for another car I had once. They even allowed me to use ones for higher speedo, my stock was max @ 85mph went up to 160 with the cover + a new speedo gear

 

Lol, wouldn't that make your odometer rack up miles quite sooner than it actually does?

 

I tried looking for just the covers but i didnt find any

 

Now that I think about it I did'nt get a new speedo....I think I just drove it as-is this was my first car 12 years ago

Hmm dont really like any of those.. could you swap the gauge faces from an 01-04 onto my 96?
