Hey guys i was wondering what the best way was to go about replacing the rear main seal? And do i use a sealent or just grease or what all?
I replaced this week along with a new clutch and pressure plate but it is now leaking worse .....
Any input would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks,

If the new seal is not installed properly it will leak. Have you confirmed it is the rear main seal? SOMETIMES a rear main seal is suspect, when it was actually just the back of the pan gasket.

yea i was hoping it was just the oil pan gasket i replaced it but it continued to leak so when i could tell i needed a clutch i replaced the rear main seal and now its leaking worse so i dont think it seated right. What do u think would be easier to drop the transmisson again or pull the motor and replace it?

I have always found it is much simpler to pull the transmission than the engine. Also if you look at the labor time guide, it shows twice the amount of time to pull and engine.
