weld exhaust?

my exhaust, right where the pipe goes into the muffler, seems to be splitting. the top half is pretty much cracked straight thru. my question is should i get it welded or just replace the muffler. it is right on the edge where the pipe and muffler meet. sound horrible to btw.

If you get it welded, you shouldn't pay more than $100. If you get a new exhaust, you're in for at least $300.

 

Depends on how bad the crack/damage/rust is I would think.

I paid like $75 IIRC for my magnaflow and about $60 for installation.

 

yea its been on the truck since i bought it. might just be time to replace it. btw it is a magnaflow.

 

If the muffler itself is in good working order I see no reason to replace it, unless you want to just because.

 

Looks like an easy fix. I would not pay for more than 60.

 

Post a craigslist ad and someone will hit that for a 12 pack of fat tire.

Shit that's an easy fix, if you we're close I would do it for a 6 pack. Prolly would take longer to roll out my mig then the job.

Shouldn't cost more then $20-$25 bucks, but then again your in the people's republic of California so it maybe a $300 job Haha

That is exactly why I said tops 60bucks. Most shops wanted to charge me 60-40 that for something similar but my friend just did it for free craft beer.

 

buddy welded it up for a 12pack (which we split) said it was basically fallin in when welding it so ill need to replace it down the road but its nice to actually have the exhaust come out at the tail pipe now.
