I need some help finding out how the piece that goes under the headlight fastens on. It is just hanging there. It's the left headlight, one side is fastened but the other side isn't. It's a 2000 tacoma.

Is the fat (outer most) or thin (inner most) side hanging loose?

It's the outermost that will not fasten.

There's a plastic clip (pretty beefy) that twists and locks onto the back of the headlight/bumper filler. Then you simply push and snap that into the hole underneath the headlight assembly.

Do you have that plastic clip?

Here's a terrible video but it gives you an idea. Go to 1:45
