Yes I searched and google searched, saw one thing from TTORA but nothing definitive.

I'm looking to remove the trim piece that the oh-shit handle is attached to. I popped off the screw covers for the oh-shit handle and could not for the life of me budge those friggen screws.

Is that all that's holding it in place? Or are there clips behind it?

I'm looking to run the mic that came with my new head unit up behind that trim piece and over to my rear view mirror. But if any of you have better placement ideas or what not, I'm all game.

    Thanks in advance.

i say pull the weather stripping then you can slide the wire behind the a pillar run it up to the top then remove the visor and then you can slide your hand behind the headliner and then slide the wires behind it. i done the same thing with a sho me fire light mounted in front of the rearview mirror. between the mirror and the windshield

I tried just running it between the pillar and the side of the dash, then up along the pillar while trying to push the wire into that gap like spline on a screen.... but it kept popping out.

I'll try removing the weatherstripping. But isn't there glue or something holding it in place? I recall reading that.

I placed mine down underneath the ash tray. I called a friend and experimented with placement pretty much everywhere in the front of the cab. He said the best quality was when it was tucked up under the ashtray.

Interesting. Seems like it would be susceptible to engine noise or something. Or have the stick shift block it?

Either way the first call I made with the mic being held up to my mouth, my friend said it sounded like I was in a wind tunnel on the other side of the world.

    ...too much shit to list.
The two screws in the oh shit handle have locktite on them, that's why they are hard to come off. After you get the screws off, there's some metal clips that keep it in place. The whole trim comes off with a nice pull.

Wait a second...you're not actually trying to get those off with a screwdriver are you?
Try a 10 mm socket/ratchet with an extension instead ;)

I was told it was too echo-y when it was on or above the dash. I have an Alpine INA-W910 if that gives you a data point.

Well it must be the overconfidence in my forearm strength from two decades of self-deprecation.

Thank you. I might just try this placement first to avoid destroying my interior.

Did you just adhere it to the bottom of the ashtray?

stuck it to the plastic collar piece that bridges from the console to the floor, right under the ashtray. I'll get pics posted in a bit. I'd recommend trying the patience of a friend and experimenting with position to see what sounds the best.

Eh, I just stuck it to the bottom side of the ashtray, it's kind of hidden which is nice. And the two calls I made said it was bearable... just distant sounding.

I think that's the mic no matter what. If I get enough complaints I'll search for a better mic.

I have mine on the A pillar itself on both my trucks and my wife's runner.
No complaints as long as the windows are rolled up.

I was gonna put it there but then thought about wind noise.

    I'm a windows-down kinda guy.

I'll see how it does under the ashtray. I like it because you can't really see it.

I might just have to buy a better mic, seems like that's the issue because my friend said there was no discernible difference when I was holding it right up to my mouth or up by the rear view mirror.
