I'm looking for a 1.5" - 2" budget boost for 2003 Tacoma. It's a 2wd, base model tacoma. I cant seem to find anything on the internet. Any suggestions?

fabtech, or doetsch tech spindles. fabtech also has a coil and control arm lift but those are all 3-3.5 inch minimum.

if its the base model and not pre runner, from what I hear its damn near impossible to lift it much without going full LT. the suspension is just too different

So you're saying that theres no way to get a 1-2inch lift on it, without redo the entire suspension?

Check fatbobsgarage, I believe they sell some options for 2wd 5 luggers.

I'm not saying its impossible you're just looking at a lot more digging around for what you'll need. A LOT more digging. Everyone and their momma sells lift stuff for 4WD/prerunner but base models are a different story. Check out customtacos.com their site specializes in base models and xrunners
