Doing the big brake upgrade. Question regarding the shims and grease location

Got the final parts for the upgrade yesterday. Only problem I had was getting the same two colors of calipers from the store. One looked black and the other silver. Had to do a little swapping to get the silver looking ones.

Anyways, I have a question regarding the pad shims. Where exactly does the grease go? I don't want to put it in the wrong places. The slotted shim has a checkered backing on one side that makes contact with the pad. Does the grease go between the pad & slotted shim, slotted shim and solid shim, and on top of the solid slim? Is this right? Does the grease go anywhere else?

Apply the grease to the back of the pad, install slotted shim, and then solid shim. The grease on the pad will squeeze in between the slotted shim and solid one which is what you're looking to get. Wipe away excess edge grease

Thanks! What about greasing the outside of the top shim? Is this even a good idea with the pistons pressing on it?
