So my mom decided to borrow my truck.

    I was gone for the weekend. She and my dad share a car, but my dad wasn't home and she needed to run some errands. She has driven my truck before.

    When I get home, she asks, "hey what does that green light in the dashboard mean?". Of course my first thought is oh sh*t, please tell me you weren't driving my truck around in 4wd.

    Turns out she somehow put it into 4H and drove a good 20 miles. Women :confused:

    When I went to assess the damage, immediately the clutch feels different, like the parking brake is on or something. There is resistance holding the truck in place. Parking brake is off, tranny in neutral in 2H, and truck won't move w/out noticeable resistance.

    Any ideas? I parked it and don't want to drive it until I know more. Do I need to tow to dealer?

    WHY!?!?!? There is no reason to mess with the 4WD switch! Wow.

    Does your mom know how to drive a manual? Another question, did she take the parking brake off before driving? Possible confusion, didn't take parking brake off, truck doesn't move, thinks it has to be in 4WD.

    When I arrived to assess damage, it was not on.

    Ya no kidding! You have to be deliberate to move the 4wd shifter...there is no reason to touch it.

    I love my mom. But this only confirms what I already believed, that most women do not have a damn clue when it comes to car stuff.

    4WD shifter? Are you in a second or first gen OP?

    Oh, well there goes my theory of it just being the parking brake stuck. 2nd Gens are good for that.

    if its a manual you have to push the clutch to floor to get it to shift back into 2wd. i would just drive the truck and see if it loosens up :notsure:

    do you have a warranty if it breaks?

    True. Perhaps it would have been more accurate to say 'many' instead of most. Although I have only met a handful of women who possessed 'car sense.'

    sooo like how much resistance are we talking here.. maybe its only in your head? or is it actually pretty strong? You should ask her if she heard any loud exploding metal sounds when she was driving it haha

    Not in my manual. Driven it 2 years now, 4wd switch goes cleanly in and out of 4wd without having the clutch pushed in. Its shift on the fly. That's why I'm curious as to if he has a 1st or 2nd gen...because all this talk of shift levers and clutching to shift makes me think he has a 1st gen.

    Transfer case does not feel 'normal'. I went between 2H and 4H a few times. The transfer case shifter actually feels too easy now. Before, it would feel solid in place when you would put it in either position, but now it feels a bit loose.

    I use parking brake regularly.
