Daytime running light mod side effect!!!

I did the DTRL disable mod a couple years back and noticed that from that point on, my high beam indicator light in the cluster pannel was slightly illuminated. The actual headlight was NOT on anymore, the only side effect was the high beam indicator. In order to make it go away, all I had to do was toggle the lights on/off and high/low a few times to get it to go away. But as soon as I turned the running lights on, not headlights, the high beam indicator went away and functioned normally after that.

Well, this didn't become much of a concern untill recently when I wired in some new fog lights to be on whenever the low beams were on. I used a relay and the "switch" power was drawn from the low beam power wire right behind the headlight assy. So whenever I toggled to high beams, the fog lights would shut off. Make sense?

So now here's the problem: Whenever that high beam indicator is on, even just barely, the fog lights are on. So there is power still getting to the headlight when all the lights are off, as if the DTRL is still on. But it's not enough power to turn on the headlight, it is however just enough to kick the switch on in the relay. In order for me to get the fogs lights to turn off, I have to toggle between on/off and high/low... but I also notice that when the lights and the high beam indicator is off, some bumps in the road will turn them on. I'm not sure if this is because of a loose wire or what but it's really starting to irritate me. Does anybody have any idea why it's doing that or know how to fix this problem completely?

I did the DRL mod on my truck and have NOT observed the side-effects you describe. (I don't have fog lights installed, but haven't noted any illumination of my high-beam indicator unless they're on.)

Based on the thread(s) related to your previous post, is it possible you cut the wrong wire (WHITE-BLACK versus WHITE-GREEN)...?
