My buddy just bought a 04 3.4 4x4 and it needs a clutch ASAP. I don't have enough experience with these trucks to give him proper advice. Hoping y'all would help. The truck is lifted 3-4 inches and has 33in tires. The rest of the truck is stock. Our questions are should he get alil beefier clutch or go back back with the stock clutch? And what brand clutch should he get? Keep in mind he's on a budget just went through a divorce. Thanks for the input ahead of time.

Oh I drove it last night first time driving one and for one the pedal released very close to the floor(clutch ingadged close to the floor). Also it felt as if the clutch slipped alittle to me but it was hard to tell with the mudd grips he has on it. He left my house drove to a buddy's for alittle bit went to leave the truck wouldn't go into gear first or reverse. They got it rolling pused the clutch in and he got it to go into gear drove home fine clutch pedal still releasing close to the floor.

    Look at build!
Marlincrawler? Probably just go with stock TRD clutch or similar as I haven't heard anything bad abt them with anyone running 33's or even 35's so stock would be fine I'd think.. I'll probably go with the Marlin clutch when I need to replace. Best of luck

Couple things .... Make darn good and sure that the clutch going in is of the diaphram style and made in japan , not Mexico . This should give you some research options.

As a diaghram clutch wears down , it actually gets stronger . Plate loading increases as the friction disc wears down .
This style of clutch is best for the every day driver and this is why most manufacturers use diaghram style clutches .

Before you replace the clutch , double check the slave cylinder and master cylinder for loss of fluid .

High performance clutches can be very aggressive and release very abruptly . Most are designed with coil springs . Great plate loading at the beginning , but as the clutch wears , plate loading decreases .
