Slightly over tightened new valve cover gaskets

I put brand new valve cover gaskets and new spark plug tube gaskets on my truck 2 weeks ago and I slightly over tightened them and am wondering if after 2 weeks I can loosen them to their correct torque or if I should leave them be. I haven't really driven it because I haven't been home for those 2 weeks so I that is why it took me 2 weeks really worry about it. Any suggestions would be fine. I probably tightened them to around 70-80inlbs instead of the 53 that is recommended.

 

Personally I would loosen them, retorque in a pattern, and drive it. I've rebuilt a lot of small engines that I didn't even torque the heads/gaskets, and even though they don't create as much compression, they have all been fine for the long term.

Depending on your definition of "slightly"... Leave it.
If they aren't leaking, you didn't deform the cover (more likely on a stamped steel cover/pan).

If you're talking you went to 25 inch pounds instead of 20, it's not a big deal.

If you went "a lot" over, then the fastener may be stretched... remove, replace the gasket, and reassemble with new fasteners.
