Whats the deal with the locking hubs. I have always had mine in the same position and switched from 2wd to 4wd with no problems (that I know of). Should I be turning the hub locks every time I switch in and out? Any info would help I do not know anything about them...

    Are they not working?

I lock mine when I start wheeling , then unlock them when I'm done. I'm in and out of 4wd with them locked.

Nothing wrong with leaving them locked. But by leaving the, locked your tires spin the cvs and diff while driving. Nothing major.

But if you unlock them then they don't spin and you could gain a mpg or two and your cv boots will last longer.

If I had manual hubs(hope to at some point) I'd leave them unlocked till I was offroad or camping. Then I'd leave them locked and shift into 4x4 when needed as long as I am on offroad. Hit the high way and unlock em.

5100's all around, 2.75 inch lift, polyurethane body mounts, gibson exhaust, variation of the deckplate mod, intake resonators removed 285-75-16 goodyear AT
The best question would be, What position have you always left them in?

I've always kept mine in the locked position. During the winter I need 4WD full time due to icy roads and in the summer I need 4wd to get up the las part of my muddy driveway. I guess it's just easier for me to keep it in locked and have the option of switching in and out of 4WD on the go. Will the vehicle not enter 4WD in the free position...just wondering?

It'll shift into 4wd but won't do any good unless the hubs are locked.
