There's a fuse just for the gauges in the under dash fuse box-I think it's a 10 amp fuse. Check and see if it's blown.

    ABS sucks.
My '03 had a similar problem (included backlighting not working) early on under warranty. Toyota ended up swapping out the harness under the radiator because it wore through and shorted out. Might want to check there as well.

Could it be too much load on my battery with my lights and all? Sjould I try taking them off?

When you say "worked for a minute" are you being literal? Or did it work for a split second then crap out?

If the latter, it sounds like a short somewhere.

Did you check what post#4 was explaining?

It lasted my until I switched from reverse to drive so around 30 seconds.. I'm guessing short too :( it's pouring rain so I have to wait until after work to get under beat and check that. If I disconnect all extras from battery and would that cut our the shirt then I can connect things one by one until I find what blows the fuse?

I'm not an electronics wiz but it sounds like, according to post #2, that said fuse is only for the gauges.

So, unless you tapped into that specific circuit for the extra electronics, then I suspect it only has to do with the wiring for the gauges circuit(s).

And if you also look at post #4, the poster explains that the backup lights are part of the circuit too? Which might explain why switching from reverse blew the fuse.

I'm sure more electronic savvy folks will chime in.

You might also post this in the "technical" forum.

Hmm okay.. I had my Hellas tapped into the fuse beside the gauges one.. But disconnected that. Even makes my wipers are slooooow and windows are slooow. Ill take everything off and go through all my wires..

So I checked ETas.. Turns out the 10 amp fuse for the gauges also is the fuse for the back up lights.. I think I may have the wires from my LED I had wired into y reverse still there (I took it off) and I'm guessing its shorting out there. Just so anyone else with this issue knows.. The fuse is for both. Thanks for everyone's help!

When I blew that fuse the dash lights still worked, just not the gauges. I don't know if my backup lights quit or not-I didn't notice before replacing the fuse.

Yes BACKUP lights. I checked etas at work and that fuse is for the gauges (not the gauge lighting) and for the reverse lights in your tail lights. I had a short in the wiring back there and whenever I replaced the fuse gauges would work until I shifted Into reverse then the fuse would blow.

Yea all my lighting inside was working. I believe that fuse also has something yo do with the charging system because everything slowly died. Hids, heater, wipers, reverse lights, all went out from lack of power.

my 2000 Tacoma is now doing this EXACT thing! Failed a Calif smog test , has aways burned clean, this time everything has changed
    P0500
    P1130
    P1135
Got all that fixed , but still dash gages stopped working after the smog guy ran it , to get the exact codes for me. truck shows no failed codes after new DENSO parts have been installed. but gages still don't work, #10 fuse still blows, battery goes dead now too. HOW DO I FIX THIS, NEED TO FINISH THE obd2 driving cycle test to finish the smog check
oh yeah, no back up lights either
