How can I change the stock exhaust to dual exhaust? I don't want it to be loud or anything, and I don't want to buy a whole kit. I would like to get it done for as little as possible.

I like the looks of duals but didn't want the drone of a flow master or the robbing power and I never heard a mbrp on a v6 gas truck so I wasn't sure and just got the trd exhaust.

I use to want it to be loud but I have changed my mind on it now and I just mainly want dual exhaust for the looks.

On my first Taco I went to the local Exhaust Pros (I know the guy there) and had him weld in a Magnaflow muffler and do his thing and make it dual out (I've since learned haha) but it was pretty cheap. Every vehicle I take to him he uses his own hangers and tucks everything up nice and tight and out of the way too.

If you change out the muffler, Ill buy it from you. I also have a flowmaster and duals out the back with tips and I honestly dont like it.

You lose the ability to carry the spare tire with most dual exhaust setups. Just do a single exit out the right rear and a fake pipe on the left.

I was still able to keep spare tire with the duals. It can be done, it isn't hard.

I'll save you some time in searching, since I spent a whole evening on this site trying to find what you and I want - duals/quiet

Put a y-pipe at the OEM muffler out' or where the pipe drops over the diff... then go from there. I have two chrome OEM Tacoma TRD oval exhaust tips and that's what I'm going to do.

If you want the TRD look, but can't find the engraved tips (since you won't) you can use these:

I think it would look better if you just chopped the exhaust under the bed with no pipes sticking out

On my first Tacoma back in 1998 I had a single inlet/dual outlet Walker super turbo muffler with a tailpipe exiting on each side behind the rear wheel. It wasn't loud, looked pretty cool, and had a nice tone to it. HOWEVER my MPG went down noticeably with it installed. When the muffler rotted out 2 years later I put the stock exhaust back on and I got about 1.5 MPG back.
