Thought I would make a thread for first gen owners who have a ultragauge to compare numbers and stuff.
mostly wondering what others are idleing at (think I got low idle)

Heres mine parked warmed up (cold outside)
    IMAG2170_c6b4151fb992c91e74626043c63d6440e46c7517.jpg
Heres in drive (automatic-notice 0 mph)

    Lets see your numbers :D

I have no pics but idle warmed up in range from 650 to 800. I'm manual so I don't have a "drive". BTW, don't need a UG to read idle :)

Not distracting at all. It's really not as bright as it looks in the OP pic

    x2!

Despite the lack of amber backlighting, I agree with this assessment. It isn't bad, despite looking "different" than the rest of the dash.

About 40 other things that I honestly don't monitor on a daily. I mainly use my UG for corrected speedo (larger tires), mileage, and check engine / pending codes.

How did you wire this in? I don't have a tac and would like one, is this thing really that good? I've read good things but never from someone that actually uses one.

    Look at build!
Here's mine compare to the blue dash. I don't think it's at all annoying even if the dash weren't blue. It's not a bright light that projects out and in fact probably doesn't have any light that shines out. Just a digital screen

I've got one in my 4 runner and a scangauge in my Tacoma. I've thought my 4 runner idles a bit low, I'll have to make a point of noticing next time I'm driving it around.
FWIW, I prefer my scangauge over my ultragauge even though the ug displays more things. The ug feels cheap to me

I really like my UG for many reasons :

Tachometer - my truck does not have one
Tripometer - my truck does not have one
Instantaneous MPG - great for continuously adjusting driving habits
Code reader - no need to hookup a hand-held unit
it also clears codes, pending codes as well
TPS output display - easy to trouble-shoot suspected TPS issues
    MAF output display - for trouble-shooting ....
    Engine temp display
    Intake temp display
    etc
    etc
