I have seen many of the devil horn emblems on tacomaworld but I have not seen anyone just paint theirs like this before so here goes nothing, without spending 50, 75 or whatever it is for a custom made emblem. DIY is the way to go.
    Materials
    - Tape
    - Black spray paint
    - Red spray paint
    - Clear coat
    - sand paper (I used 180 grit but doesn't matter that much you just need to scuff it up)

I found out I wanted to mod my emblem when I took my grille off to paint it, but I didn't get to end up painting my grille since my shop was full but I was just tinkering with the front of my truck while I was moving my blinkers to my corners... anyways I started with this (black paint isn't in the picture)

Flip your grille over and you'll see the three snaps that hold your emblem in, the two snaps on the top I pushed in with a screwdriver but I made the mistake of pushing the bottom one too and snapped it off, only the two top ones snap in the bottom one is just there to hold it. Just take your time and be careful removing your emblem or you'll be stuck with gorilla glue like me.

Once you have the emblem off scuff it with your preference of sand paper. I used 180 grit.

I don't have a picture of it, but before I taped the emblem I spray it with two coats of black spray paint. Once that was completely dry I taped off the emblem so that it left the center piece showing (to me it looks like a bull with horns. This is the part that I painted red.

I did one coat of red then touched it up after that just where it needed more red. When the red was dry I removed the tape (carefully). Then hit it with two coats of clear coat. The paint for me chipped off really easily when I only had the black and red coats on I think because it is cold (in maine) but I did the two clear coats which shined it up really good and made it much smoother looking.

It's dark out so I'll get a picture of it back on my truck tomorrow. I think it goes real well with a truck that has red painted shackles hanging from the front end/bumper or even a red windshield banner/sticker that says TOYOTA etc...
yes lots of steps and patience just for a painted emblem but hey it's what I like to do in my spare time. "If you're gonna do it, take your time and do it right."
Thanks for reading :D and let me know what you think :kona: , i'll post a picture installed tomorrow!

Yes tomorrow! I wish I could have plasti dipped my grille surround today as well but it was just too cold it would have not come out well and also taken forever to dry. It will all look great when I get a black satoshi insert for my grille and have the surround painted black

I'm not bashing your project, but I don't get the whole thing with the whole Devil emblem thing. I mean why, for what purpose does it serve, what is the message Devil emblems are supposed to send? I don't think anything relating to the Devil "looks" "cool" even if its not meant in a symbolic way or if its just meant in a playful manner. The only thing I can think of is comparing to a douce bag with a UFC sticker on the back of his truck when UFC was really hot a few years back. That maybe they think it makes them look like some sort of Billy badass or something? Who knows..

Its not a billy badass thing for me at all. Its just something that looks nice and stands out.

There is more effort involved finding a devil emblem, more money, and more quality placed into it, versus a shitty little UFC sticker.

Plus, i'm an Atheist, so the devil is my friend (according to super hooah religious folks)

why does anyone customize their truck at all? it's an expression of the driver behind the wheel it shows that whoever the owner is doesn't just drive to church on Sundays it expresses that the owner probably takes his truck off road once a week. he probably likes the look of caked on mud better than the actual paint. or they he's not afraid to go where no man dare off road before. excuse us if we do not all drive the same looking truck.

IMO this isn't a devil emblem, it's a bull emblem like he's already stated. This is a devil: http://www.xr-underground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22597

I think the bull is cool.

Thank you for actually reading my post. Yes everybody, it's a bull not a devil. I just painted it red because some other exterior parts on my truck are red too.
