    Hello fellow Toyota Owners,

    I need your help. I've been searching the web for the info but no luck! I need to know or find a place where i get the time for a '01 Tacoma prerunner sr5 time from a stop on a red light to 40mph in seconds. I've found the 0-60 but need the 0-40.

    I do have to say, this is the most interesting thread I've ever seen on TW.

    lol

    Oh, to answer your question... if it's me driving, it's at least 15 seconds.

    I need this info to fight my speeding ticket which was a BS, I have the video from the police car from my public defender. It shows me driving from a red light to another red light and I braked way before I even hit the other red light. So what Im trying to prove is the seconds before I stepped on my brakes because it was at night and you can see my lights flashing... hopefully u get what Im trying to describe! So I need the 0-40 mph in seconds from a good source so I can show them that the cop was full of donuts!!

    lol...what I meant was the info from Toyota themselves not personal experiences. Toyota has it on their specs n reviews of my truck from 0-60 in 9.1 seconds but I need it for the 0-40. :)

    Can't you extrapolate from the 0-60?

    40 = 2/3rds of 60.

    6 = 2/3rds of 9.

    6 seconds.

    That doesn't really work for acceleration times. Youre then assuming it would take 12 seconds to accelerate to 100 mph. Thatd be one fast tacoma. 0-40 is probably close to 6 but id guess 5 seconds.

    Also, OP, I think you're completely wasting your time with trying to prove anything on 0-40 acceleration times. Just my opinion.

    How in the hell do you get a public defender for a speeding ticket?

    I would see if you can take it to reputable track and test your actual truck with a 3rd party driving because it is easy for them to say that a factory spec on a 11 year old truck means nothing.

    also how many seconds on video does it take for you to hit your breaks? its its much less then 9.1 then you should be good. Also is it possible to calculate how far you drove before you hit the the brakes or how fast the cop was going behind you which must of been slower then you were going?

    Pretty sure acceleration isn't that linear of an equation.

    btw - a municipal court is going to laugh at you for trying to prove you weren't speeding with this "evidence"

    lol, well they stopped me for speeding which i wasn't and then got me for DUI which I wasn't as well. Cops watched me go to my car drive off and pulled me over for speeding. I blew a .083 and blood test came back as .069. (these two test were done 20 minutes apart) So they are giving me a wet n wreckless instead of dui. Thats how I got a public defender!
