    Hey there TacoWorld,
A few days ago my 99 4-cyl started to make an awful squealing noise around 25mph and up. Especially louder after throttle release. After doing a little research, i was under the impression that it was my carrier bearing on the driveshaft. So i went out and bought a new one only to find out that the single cabs do not use carrier bearings!

Now with that said, can anyone prove me wrong about the carrier bearing?
If not how do I know if the u-joints have blown or the t-case needs fluid?

im still trying to find this elusive bastard. the squeal for my 00 3.4L only occurs every now and then and will occur for varying lengths of time and then vanish. I keep blowing my rear brake seals every couple months or so as well so my guess is the axle bearings themselves are going out. but keep us posted OP I need to end this once and for all!

Your u-joints could be dry. When was the last time you lubed them?. There should be 2 zerks at each end.
