For some reason my key will not turn counterclockwise on the driver's side. I can turn it clockwise to unlock (once for driver's side/twice for both doors). From the passenager side both clockwise and counterclockwise work just fine with the key. Anyone have any suggestions in tackling this problem???

    mine doesn't turn either way.

Usually wore out key. Sometimes putting some graphite powder in there to lube it up helps though.

My passenger door has the same problem but in reverse - it turns counter-clockwise to lock but won't turn clockwise to unlock. Most times if I turn to the left it will then turn right but it won't usually just turn right. It's that that big of a deal yet and I just haven't had time to pull the door panel.

Get a new one cut. It's worn out.

My old 97 was the same way I was too lazy to take the door apart and fix it. Key worked fine just too hard to move the internal parts of the lock assembly little lube goes a long way.

Could be a worn out lock cylinder too.

Found out the hard way my ignition one was worn out. Now that I have new keys cut, and matched to the doors, my door cylinders are tricky to turn.

The locks are commonly overlooked as part of routine maintenance. As with others, I learned the hardway. I did the graphite lube late and it helped for a bit, but eventually the locks had to be replaced. Don't overtorque your key else it may break off in the lock.

I bought a can of spray graphite and now squirt it into the cylinders of all my vehicles. Hopefully I'll stay ahead of the curves.

I am hoping graphite powder will do the trick.
I will find out when this rain stops.

Same issue with my 96 a while back. Picked up two new keys from toyota, made via VIN#, a little lube and all is well.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
How long have you been ignoring this problem.

Just how bad is your key worn?

The fact your right door lock works fine perhaps a little lube is in order for both lock cylinders

Lubing the left door cylinder might keep it working for some time yet.

I bought the truck yesterday. :)
I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that has fresh graphite powder in its locks.

I don't think graphite powder is going to be the fix...new keys or new locks.

I am having 2 new keys cut on Friday. I will let you know if that resolves the issue.

apparently it is the same price for 2 keys as it is for 1.
