So I'm trying to get the door panel off this beast, and there are no screw heads showing in the armrest holes- any ideas?

There are about 10 clips on the back of the panel that are connected to the inner body of the door.

Either use a panel trim removal tool or some sort of pry... pop them out and you're good to go.

You also need to remove the clip holding the inner door handle to rod, if you haven't done so already.

I got the inner door handle and all the plastic clips all the way around- its stuck behind the armrest- behind the two 'screw' openings. No visible screws though...

Yeah, they were way back in there on my truck, but I reached them with a standard-length phillips. Not very visible.

There's nothing back here. Look at the pic below. The two blue tabs are where those two screws go. Nothing else is holding it to the inner door panel at this point

I think it depends on which door panel he has; mine had 2 screws. :)

He has a 99, which is the same as my 98.

Maybe your 01-04 is different? :notsure:

    For my 98 it was:

    Little screw in door handle
Clip holding rod to door handle
Two large screws through the armest
10 or so clips around the perimeter of the panel.
    Unclip power locks/windows harnesses.

Then it popped off with a little lift and tug (no homo)

If you didn't remove any screws from the arm rest, you need to.

    Well, this.

However I was assuming he removed the two screws from the openings he posted about.

He mentioned that there are no screw heads showing. They are kind of difficult to see, as deep as they are set in there.

Yeah, I went back a reread it.

For some reason I assumed he removed them.

I just replaced my outside door handle last weekend, and the worst part for me was getting the plastic clip off of the rod that goes through the door handle lever. It's in there kind of far, and I have large hands. Also, I'm old as dirt, arthritic & have a multiply-fractured pelvis. :turtleride:

It occurred to me just now that he may not have removed the black plastic triangular panel by the mirror. I tried getting the door panel off w/o removing that, but it had to come off first.

On mine I didn't have to remove the sail panel, but it would have made life easier.

Kind of a lift, pull, up, out type of shimmy. Although I see he removed the upper vinyl panel so it will be easier for him.

Thanks- the last two screws were in the armrest, but they were covered with tape... Found a 1"x1" piece of pine ziptied to the vertical riser! No speaker though.

The screw heads were covered in tape?

And lol @ the pine strip... wtf?

When I pulled my panels and looked between the two door skins, at the bottom there was about an inch and a half of mud filled with my dog's fur and little pieces of sticks and such.

When someone tells you that a husky sheds a lot... believe them.
