Today I took my skid plate off my 2002 Tacoma 3.4 4x4 to replace my idler pulley and noticed oil splattered under my transmission all over. It's not transmission fluid. I checked my oil and it is good so im not sure where it is coming from. It is not coming from the front transfer case. It's a very slow drip but a good bit of oil came out. I'm no mechanic by any means so any help would be greatly appreciated. God bless

Transfer case Output seal? Known for leaking. Check you front drive shaft and see if there is any oil coming from where your drive shaft goes into transfer case.

Remember to use a good flashlight.

Since oil drips, keep trying to work your way up from the bottom of your truck and find out at what height it seems to quit leaking. Remember, oil can also be slung.

It's a wear component. When I had my 1997 it started leaking after I slid sideways in the ice and hit a big rock against the side of my tire. Almost like it jabbed the entire axle inwards into the seal.

My buddy has replaced his on his 1998 because it started leaking, no particular reason why.

I gotcha. My truck does have 226000 miles on it. Most of them in the wood. Thanks
