Replaced my clutch and flywheel last week. Pretty uneventful until the test drive. There was a rubbing sound and shaking coming from the transmission when releasing the clutch under load in any gear and also when I go over bumps while in gear. When it is in gear and clutch is fully released it doesn't do it, except for the bumps in the road.

Took the transmission back out today and the new pilot bearing came out with it. Not sure if that could be the problem or not. Kind of odd for that to just come out IMO. Regardless, put the tranny back in after reseating the pilot bearing and........ wait for it.......... same problem.

I have searched the forums and cant find anything that resembles it. I am stumped. Not to mention, tired of removing that tranny. BTW, it is a 1998 4x4 3.4L.

Input shaft bearing? Pilot Bearing? Throw out bearing? Bad clutch?

I have a 1996 Tacoma 3.4, with the exact same problem. Put in the new clutch and now I have this annoying "grabbing" or "jumping" when releasing the clutch

Is there any possibility of misalignment between the transmission and the engine?

Kinda the same thing here. I don't know if its the new clutch or the new everything, but at low RPM's under load it feels like its "choking" and the rear end kinda jumps around. Slipping clutch?
