My girlfriend drives my '99 tacoma 4x4 v6 trd manual and for the past few weeks the truck was drifting left and right while driving and the tires would seem to "grab". It feels like one of the wheels stops spinning for just a fraction of a second. When I use to drive it would sometimes feel stuck when I would start from a dead stop and then it would feel like it would "break loose" and start driving. It also made a loud noise when it would do that. I'm not sure if it is still having this issue or not. I looked at the truck a few days ago and noticed one of the cv axle boots had ripped in half so I took it to a local mechanic. He said both of them were bad and needed to be replace so he replaced them. The truck no longer drifts while driving but still has the catching/grabbing issue. any ideas what the problem may be? The truck is always in 4 wheel drive due to road conditions and i haven't been able to check to see if it has the problem in 2 wheel drive or not

Quick question: are all of your tires the exact same size?

    Also, auto or manual tranny?

Its a manual transmission. I currently have 3 265/70/16 and then the spare. Not sure what size the spare is but I think the wheel size is 15"

You absolutely can't run different size tires.

Just did some googling after you asked about the tire size. I will get that fixed asap. Thank you
