    Don't know if I'm in the right forum or not. I need to sell my 2000 ext cab 2wd Taco. I have looked at KBB, Edmunds, NADA, and Blackbook pricing guides. They are sort of all over the place.

    Trade In:
    KBB = 5050
    NADA = 7900
    Edmunds = 7697
    Blackbook = 6765

    Private Party:
    KBB = 6790
    Edmunds = 8939

    Is there any reason why the KBB prices are so much lower than the other organizations? What do car lots use?

    I have looked at similar trucks on ebay and I saw one sell for 9600 (seems too high) and others end the auction with no sell (bids ~6400).

    Is it a Prerunner? V6 or 4cyl? How many miles? You'd be better off selling it to a private party buyer than trading it in if you have any mods (lift, tires, wheels, etc). The dealership doesn't care about that stuff and will go by stock blue book value, whereas a private party buyer might give you more for money you've already invested in that stuff. I'm pretty sure most dealers use the KBB. I have seen many Tacoma's sell for well above the KBB price. The 4x4s, DoubleCabs, and more rare Tacos like the Stepside or Super Charged are in the highest demand. Good luck.

    A dealer will give you less than wholesale. So if they can't sell it & it goes to wholesale, they make money.

    Sorry, I should have posted more info about the truck. My plan is to sell it myself, but with the different private party and trade in values being different, I don't want to sell for less than trade in value. The trade in value given by some sites is more than the private party value of KBB.

    2000 Toyota Tacoma,
    · ext. cab
    · 2 wd, auto
    · SR5
    · Air conditioning
    · power windows
    · power locks
    · cruise
    · AM/FM/Cass/CD
    · sliding rear window
    · bed liner
    · 44,000 mi
    · Silver
    · tires match and have ~4/32” tread
    The body is in good condition.

    It would be a great work truck/daily driver. I've always considered it sort of an old mans truck.
