Im comming up on my 30K for my tranny fluid and want to go ahead and switch to Amsoil fluid. Im doing the switch myself by draining the pan (~1-2quarts) and will be changing it out every few 100 miles until I get ~10-15 quarts of Amsoil in.

I dont think there is an issue with mixing the Toyota and Amsoil fluid and dont know of another way of doing the switch. Short of taking it to the dealer, anyone know a better way of doing this?

Drain and fill on my '03 4 days ago and got a little over 4 quarts out. Kept with the type IV ATF from Toyota though. I let it drain for a good 30 minutes.

BG trans fluid flush. Google BG fluid flush in your zip for some local repair shops that are equipped to perform this fluid exchange, no dealerships. We have BG machines at my work, a shell station/garage, and have had customers supply their own fluid, we just charge for the labor.

Ill look into it. Is this a presure flush? I hear these ruin transmissions and Im trying to avoid this. The above mentioned technique is the recomeneded one but Im currious about mixing fluids...
Ok, thats good, the more the better.

The BG trans. machine runs off of the transmission pressure, NO pressure from the machine. I've done alot over the years with no issues, but if a customer's vehicle has high mileage and the trans fluid is black/burnt i will not perform a BG flush. I did my 4runner when i first bought it and it had 165k miles, but the fluid was'nt to bad, i did it for preventive maintance. I have 175k on it now with no issues, trans fluid still looks new.
