Is this a good deal on a '99 tacoma???

Hey there this is my first post, i was looking for some feedback please....I was looking for trucks to buy since I live in chicago and got tired of driving a prelude in the winter. I came across this tacoma being sold in Ohio....

wow i just realized the guy put 84219 for mileage but odometer says 74219....gonna have to get that cleared up...would be an even better deal i guess

How did you know that was a scam?

 

When I read this, I had red flag alerts going off. The deal just seemed too good to be true. I have seen scams on Craig's List. I enquired about a car and got an email reply about the car being shipped, military etc...

Would've been sweet if it were true.

 

Yeah, that does sound fishy.

 

1) ebay will never take possession of anything
2) no one is going to ship their car to someone without getting paid first
3) shop on craigslist for a little while and you'll know exactly when something is legit and when its not. Some scams are much more obvious then this one was.

just be careful. the scams work both ways, even if you try to sell something. one time i was selling something and i got an email from someone willing to pay 2x what i wanted so i could ship it to nigeria, i figured sure why not. i got an email with paypal logos and with @paypal in the senders email saying i had been paid. i was really close to shipping till i realized to actually log in to paypal to make sure i had been paid. sure enough, it was a fake email. even after knowing i couldn't tell the difference. again, just be careful.
