Light bar and bumper guard, 3/16 steel skid plates for engine, tranny and transfer box, OME 881 springs with 5100 shocks at mid clip. AAL in rear. Positraction rear diff.
You could also take it somewhere in the soft dirt or loose rocks and step on the gas and see if both wheels spin or not. Maybe try it with one wheel on the pavement.

A mechanical limited slip rear differential was only installed on 2005-2008 Sport TRD Tacomas. 2009 + all have open differentials and electonic/ brake created limited slip systems, called TRAC.

The Limited slip differentials on those Sport Tacomas all have a label on the differential stating LSD fluid only.

Toyota diffs don't have covers. They have carriers. And thats a different story. But yeah first gens didn't come with lsd diffs

I appreciate all the quick responses!! Thank you all. I'm new to 4x4's in general, I've been playing with 4cyl turbo cars... Truck is at the dealer for ball joint recall!

Yes it was available in the 2nd gen as a dealer installed option, but only in the V6 8.4" rear end.
So I think its safe to say you dont have one. One way to tell if you have an open diff is to jack the truck up and spin one wheel, if the other one is spining in the opposite direction you have an open diff with spider gears and no LSD or Locker

If anyone is thinking of putting an lsd in their first gen4x4/pre, it has the same third member (carrier) as the 2nd gen tacoma 4x4/pre, first gen tundra, and T100. excluding trd w/ locker. I got one out of a tundra, its really nice to have. Also the stock lsd from tundras is not a trd lsd. Trd has clutch packs tightened to 400ft lbs, stock has them at 200ft lbs. i was a little disappointed :(
