I have a 02 tacoma pre-runner 3.4 V6. I was wondering how much of a job it is to change the fuel filter? Is it hard to get to? I'm having the timing belt changed and I figured it would be a good time to change it.

Thanks, I found it and it's a pretty simple job. Thanks again

I just went to Advance Auto (they opened a new one a couple of blocks from my house) and bought their name brand fuel filter: Driveworks.

    They say Wix makes them.

Any insight on this fuel filter whether or not it's good, bad or sufficient enough?

I just got the WIX when I was at O'rileys.

Most expensive means best, right? :D

Same, I think it was like $18.95 with taxes.

I'd rather buy a new fuel filter than new injectors!

There again, it's more regular maintenance and frequency compared to what you put in, unless of course it's a sock stuffed in a water bottle, because then yes, it does matter.

Yeah on the fuel filter box it says change every 12,000 miles. I'm pretty sure I've gone 163,000 miles on the same fuel filter

our 4runner (with the 3.4) went 28x,xxx miles before we changed the filter.
the engine was bogging pretty bad, and when we pulled the filter off there was black crud coming out of the end.

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.

wow. wix is a good brand and not overpriced at all, and they have a huge plant near where I grew up and they make filters for different brands. its just not good to NOT change that filter, you might not have any problems, but the ones you can have are expensive.

That's the same crud that came out of mine. I had gone way too long before changing it.

Just bought mine at O'reillys. They only had MicroGard at $18.99 and then WIX at $23.99.

    I went with the WIX.
