TRD super charger, URD fuel mods and 2.1 super grip pully, Headers, 2.5" glass pack, Dana 60 front 4 linked, 14bolt rears on chev 63's, 5.38 gears, ARB locker in the front, PSC full hydraulic steering, 18" SAW 2.5" triple rate coils overs, FOA 2.5 air bumps, B&M launch controls, B&M trans cooler, 4 alpine 6X8 type R's amped, Red led rock lights, CBI front and rear bumpers (my design) CBI sliders, 4 riggid dualys front 2 in the rear, custom track bar, ARB snorkle, warn VR8000 winch, Viair 480c twin compressers..

loosing that coating does open up the tollerences some but not enough to notice. Also as far as people talking about ratle noise at idle that goes away when you rev it up that's wear in the drive coupler and can be replaced.

Yeah I replaced my coupler recently and it helped, but these 1st gen SC's just love to rattle anyways. The black SC's are supposed to be quieter.

Yeah here is my 1st gen right after I installed it. It's a little quieter now after the oil and coupler change.

Okay, I got a reply from rollingperformance. Apparently the first gen s/c are the TRD M62's. Unfortunately, the roller bearings for the back of the case are on perpetual back order from the manufacturer. Does anyone know another place to get them? Chris seemed to think that the problem extended to their competition as well, so I'm curious if someone knows a place that has them in stock. Also, I was thinking I may possibly invest in the ceramic bearings, but there is a $125 price difference. I'm not planning on racing this truck, or really hammering on it hard at all, since it's high mileage and a daily driver. Would it be worth the extra $$$ to have them, or would I just be wasting my money? Thanks for all your help guys, this is starting to come together for me.

Well I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm going to be nice to it, just that I'm not going to torture it, hahaha. Is anyone running the ceramic bearings? Do they really seem to make much of a difference? Or, should I say, do they make enough of a difference that they justify the $125 price increase?

I don't have any experience with them, but for $125 you could put that towards the 7th injector or something else. People have been beating on their superchargers for a long time with the standard nachi bearings and they have been fine. I'd say keep your money and go with the standard bearings. These things last 100k from the factory, so I can't imagine the ceramic bearings making that huge of a difference. I'll have to look into the advantages of them though.

i havent researched them but in the case of brakes ceramics last longer but the rotors wear quicker. If that indead is the case i'd rather it be the other way around.

I used the regular bearings on mine, as i wont have a problem with doing it again when the time comes, and If i remember correctly i got my kit of ebay for the front of the charger and PM'ed the vendor and had him include the rear bearings. if you still cant find them inspect them and if they are fine just do the front bearings and coupling.

Was there something that made you guys decide to replace the bearings? My supercharger has 100k miles on it and since these bearings are hard to find I a, wondering if I could skip it for now?

I put a new nose cone assembly on 10k miles ago. Think that would be good enough for now?

It would probably be a good idea, but if it still sounds normal then I wouldn't be too worried.

The Front bearings are usually the ones to go first so chances are the rears are fine

You can get the front bearings from VXB. They are 6303 Nachi Bearing Open C3 and 6204 Nachi Bearing Open C3. I think it's the rear needle bearings that are out.

I'm going to be pulling a 1st gen SC apart soon as well. I'm debating replacing the bearings and seals on the rotor plate since they are pretty sensitive and difficult to press out. The nose cone looks to be straight forward enough.

Nah, same for me as well. I won't put it on till I have the 7th kit.
