Cb radio?

I have put a cb in my truck and a 102inch whip and am picking up nothing. What do I need to check for or is there a way to test it?

 

SWR Meter. Bout 20$ from radio shack.

Haha not ca but just round here. Haha but I found out I forgot to hook up my antenna. Ha what a winner but I called radio shack and the cheapest swr is41 that's to much for a one time used. I work in a radio shop so we got one maybe if I get a few minuets at work I'll break away and use it

No lol that was for forgetting to plug in the antenna!
Hopefully you didn't key it too much w/o the antenna on. That can fry a cb super fast.

 

Ok so it's still not working like if I turn my squelch up and no static if I shake my antennae when it hits a certain spot it gets static. What's wrong?

How is the antenna mounted? Pics? The antenna mount needs to be grounded properly. And there should be a nylon spacer seperating the mount from the antenna. Unless its a magnet mount then idk.

 

No it's a mount that u drill through the bumper, and since so the mount is against the bottom of the bumper and the top I don't have a nylon washer because the top of the bumper is plastic? But when I move the antenna side to side I get static as expected, I'm not understanding this thing

Sounds like the flanges on top and bottom of the mount are insulating the connection between bumper and antenna, and the threads that go down through the hole are scraping the inside of the hole getting a faulty ground...

 

This is it I just don't understand the problem:/

 

Mounted to the plastic on the bumper like that it's not grounded. You need the antenna attached to something metal.

 

The underside where u can see the coax is the metal underside of the bumper

 

If you go wheeling and hit your antenna on a branch or something, there's a good chance you're going to destroy that plastic bumper cap.

 

Mine barely ever goes off road because unfortunately she's a pre runner

 

buy it then go to another location and say it didn't work and get your cash back.

EDIT: After looking at your pics i would get a spring on that just in case you bump it loading something in the bed.
