    Hey all,

I just purchased a 2003 Tacoma SR5 access cab 5 speed with 139,000 mi. It has a brand new frame, shocks (front and rear), break lines, muffler, leafsprings, tires, and a few other new parts underneath. It's pretty loaded with power windows/locks, cd player and some other options. I paid $9,800 for it. The first thing I would like to know is if this was a fair price. The only funky thing I found was that the cruise control does not work if I have my lights on and the dash lights/digital clock react when I hit the breaks. Does this make any sense?

Another issue I have it that the previous owner had a cap which scratched up the runners on the bed [IMG]. I was hoping for some suggestions on the best way to remove the small rust spots and cover them up. I was hoping to do this work myself.

Is it 4WD? If so that's a very fair price IMO considering the new frame and components you listed.

Many other much smarter people will chime in about your electrical issue but to me it sounds like you have a short somewhere. If you look around your brake pedal is there anything obvious going on?

As for the bed rails, you can sand them clean, use acetone to clean them then use a roll on or spray on bedliner product.

    Oh, and welcome to TW

I just got a recall thing for my 03 DC about the cruise control. Mine is a little tricky but max milage was 150,000. Not real sure if it was actually from toyota or somekind of lawsuit thing but since im out on milage i trashed it.

On a father-in-law's pickup I taped off the rusted spots to block out an area, then used the wire wheel on my Dremel to take the rust off, then covered it with primer and about as close to a matching paint as I could find.
