I have some pretty annoying axle wrap on my 03 TRD DC Prerunner and I was wondering if anyone has tried the Tuff Country Traction bar and if it helped?

I like the ride and didn't really want to clamp the overload spring like was mentioned in the "Axle Wrap Mod" thread, and I didn't want to spend $400 on a Bud Built bar if I could find a cheaper solution. I am not doing any rock crawling with this truck and was wondering if the cheaper solution would work.

Anyone tried one or know of another cost effective option?

Google Tuff Country # 50995. At just $150 it's pretty affordable.

General consensus on Pirate4x4 (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/general-4x4-discussion/573294-front-axle-wrap-idea.html) is the design is pretty effective if the bar length and mounting location has been well-mocked up by the manufacturer, though I haven't seen reviews of this particular P/N. I also haven't seen an installation guide that shows where the axle bumpstop has been relocated to.

Yeah, that is the page I was reading about it. I was just wondering if anyone with a 1st Gen Taco has put one one.

I read some other stuff about a carrier bearing spacer also fixing the "bump" feeling when stopping/starting that has been associated to axle wrap... Just trying to make the annoying "clunk/bump" feeling when stopping go away.

When is the last time you lubed your slip yoke? If dry, it can bind up and pop loose to cause this feeling when accelerating, or more noticeably during braking.

I just bought the truck about a month ago, so I never have. I don't know about the previous owner, but he was meticulous about normal maintenence. Maybe I will give that a try first. Are there grease fittings on the slip yoke? And what grease is the right stuff to use?

This should tell you what you need. The slip yoke zerk is labelled #6 in this writeup. It is the one right before the rearmost U joint.
