Smoothest Riding 2.5-3" Lift Setup

I recently purchased a 1996 Extended Cab 4X4/MT/2.7 Taco with 248K all-original miles. Suprisingly, it isn't in too terrible of shape.

The suspension is worn out... leaf springs inverted, and shocks leaking. It rides nicely. Though.

In my quest to fit 33x10.50's, I thought a 2.5-3" lift would match up well. I don't want to replace the suspension with all factory parts... But I want the ride to be as smooth as possible while being able to fit 33x10.5.

I originally was just going to do wheelers complete kit with 88X/5-pack with original nitrochargers, but I want to see what most of you think rides the best.

Keep in mind I have the lightest 4x4 Ext. Cab you can get, which tipped the scales at 3520 with over 1/2 tank :-P.

I just recently changed out my stock bilsteins and rear leaf springs with the OME kit from Wheeler's.

I previously had 180k on the bilsteins The leafs were inverted and all the shocks were leaking. It was pretty bad, just like how your's is. The OME's with dakar rear leaf springs & grease-able shackles felt really smooth. I'm really glad i got the OME's it was like night and day in comparision with my bilsteins. I've also ridden in truck that had the 5100 bilsteins and still think the OME was the best investment suspension wise. Although I know some people get the 5100s to save money. I got the OME nitrocharger kit complete from wheeler's because it had everything i needed. Looks like the same things you need as well.

OME or Toytec is as good as it gets unless you're going to step up to Ikon, Fox, or King coilovers.

Thank you for the reply! That was the exact info I was looking for!

I just sold my Tundra that I had put Dirt Logic C/O's on, and the ride quality was a little more jarring than I had liked. It previously had older Fox C/O's and they rode slightly better, but was constantly having problems with them leaking.

I am really leaning toward the 881 setup... will it sit much higher than the 3.4 equipped Tacos?

I had OME 881s but never got around to measuring the lift height. When I got my Elite bumper I stepped up to the 882s and a 10mm top plate spacer. I measure 24" hub to fender now. I did notice that the 881s/882s smoothed out with the extra weight of the front bumper.

I run Bilstien 5100's all the way around and the truck rides like a big Cadillac down the trail. Smoothest riding setup I've ever ran and for the price...you can't beat it!

I'm running billies with Eibachs and have no complaints.

All the different coil style lifts are going to be similar, OME also has good reveiws but have had trouble in the past with sagging.

I don't believe that they still have the sagging problems like they have in the past but I could be wrong. I drive a double cab prerunner with the 2.7L engine and I have the 881 springs. I got about 2.5" with this setup. I thought at first the ride was very rough but after 4,000 miles on the springs it has smoothed out a little bit.
By the way when I first got the new lift I was running 33x10.5x15 and they cleared easily with no rubbing whatsoever. Since then I went back to a 32x11.5x15 because I didn't like the power loss and mpg loss with the 33" tire.
