So my chrome is peeling bad on my grill and I want to paint it but I don't know what color would look best. I am debating on flat black or semi-gloss black. Should I paint everything on the grill or just the chrome? I guess I should upload a pic of my truck, but that is going to have to wait till after school:rolleyes: But for now my truck is maroon.

Can't go wrong with painting the whole grille black. When mine was stock I sprayed it all flat black using Rustoleum plastic primer and paint.

EDIT: Here's what mine used to look like, now I have a Grillcraft insert

^Sometimes going clean and simple looks better than trying to make it stand out. In the grille, this is a PERFECT example. Looks great.

Is your grill still flat black or did you change it once you got the grillcraft?

Yup! The grille surround is still flat black with the GC insert :D The paint isn't as nice because I chipped a couple spots while I was chopping for the GC. My touchup wasn't good but I didn't care. I'll clean it up later when it's warmer.

Here's what it looks like now...

Color-matching might not be a bad idea either.

Looks great OP! I agree wih the bumper, it'll look much cleaner. But instead of paint use Duplicolor Vinyl Fabric Dye.

Just clean the bumper good and wipe down then spray away. Check my build page in my sig for pictures

Dose it hold up well even though its plastic? And what about sanding?

Yup, it holds up really great. Mine is still perfect and it's been a long while since I've done it. And NO, no sanding necessary. Just clean, dry, spray.

^ I actually peeled the chrome from muh SR5's grill surface before painting.
wasn't too tough once I got it started.
More effort then sanding the chrome, but worth it IMO...
Looks fubar to see the chrome show thru, after rocks and sand pepper the grills surface.
