temperture hand

Hello just finished installing a radiator fan clucth water pump and t-stat i ran the truck till it was up to temperture but it seems the temp is running a little high. Based on the picture is this about normal for the prerunners? I used all oem parts also thanks

 

Seems good to me. Mine runs about there around town, but a little lower on the interstate.

 

Looks a little high to me (mine runs horizontally about perfect) but I wouldnt worry too much tho

 

You might be a little higher than mine. Just changed to lower thermostat... With stock 180f:



With new 170f:

 

Did you get all the air out of the system (purge it) ? That also could raise the temp some until the air bubbles are out.

 

Seems a little high, but as long as it is stable and not going any higher it should be good. Mine runs about perfectly horizontal.

 

Yea my brother has one and his runs right in the middle and he brought mine to the intention that it seem to be running a little high. The truck seems to run fine and like i said i changed just about all of the cooling system parts other than the coolant temperture sensor. Im sure that the system was burped.... What else could i look at like i said its not running in the red but not to far from it...

 

4 or 6 cyl?

If it is the V6, how about the t-stat, was it installed with the jiggle valve "down", in the 6 o'clock position?

Many folks will swear the valve should be in the "up" or 12 o'clock position. "It helps to purge air bubbles" they say. Google "jiggle valve", most returns including Wikki say "up".

The Toyota FSM specifically says down for the V6 and up for the 4 cyl. The FSM seems to defy conventional wisdom or is just flat wrong (it frequently is) but apparently this is not the case.

There is some pretty substantial evidence with the V6, putting the jiggle valve "up" consistently causes around a 10* increase in coolant temp. Haven't seen anything with regards to the 4 cyl. You may or may not see it on the dash gauge. They are not real sensitive.

i have the v6 mine runs about there. little above horizontal but i've never worried about it since its stable and has never climbed higher

 

Mine runs in the middle. Factory stat.

 

I think its fine being I dont remember which way the jiggle was placed . It doesn't climb any higher than in the picture so im thinking it ok. However I might take it somewere to make for sure the temp is ok.....One more question when I installed the radiator the hose going to the vgr box thinge came loose and now my check light is throwing code p0402 Im beleving it might need a cleaning but is there a diy on how to remove it? and what should I soak it in?

 

remember, the guages are not calibrated. it gives you a decent reference. as long as it's not overheating, you are OK.
